Schlonk’s Dedephlogistonating Tube: A Green Solution for Air-Sensitive Chemistry

Abstract: Chemistry is an old science, steeped in history, vanity and self-aggrandisement. It is for this reason that chemists feel the need to name reactions, glassware, salts and even elements after themselves. So conceited is the chemist that he or she is not truly considered great until some ligand bears their name. Once, elements were named for ancient deities or translations from classical Greek. Now, we must suffer the collective indignity of elements named after a bunch of old white blokes and the state of Tennessee. With all that aside, the author now presents some apparatus he named after himself.
